AN advocate of natural skin and hair care has shared her novel tip for a DIY face mask that transformed her complexion.
But the unlikely concoction contained nothing but cooking waste and was super easy to use.
There was a huge amount of interest in Blessed’s (@blessedbydeij) video seeing it go stratospheric, attracting over 870,000 likes and thousands of comments.
This lady should know what she is talking about. Her TikTok is all about: “Hair and skin, all natural.”
It has proven to be a popular formula for her because she has over 14,000 followers and another 934,000 likes.
In this post, she urged rice lovers not to chuck away the water once the rice had been cooked because there was another use for it: natural skin care.
“Start saving that rice water,” she said, holding aloft a bottle of the milky liquid. “Store it sealed in the fridge and it will keep for four or five days,” she explained.
She said it just took two days to transform her spotty skin to an almost blemish-free, dewy complexion.
Her regimen began with pouring some of the rice water into a cup: “Splash rice water on clean face.”
She wasn’t finished yet: “Split cotton pads and soak in the rice water.”

Squeezing out any excess water, she applied these pads to her face and then explained the magic of rice water.
“[It] smooths skin and reduces redness. My skin was immediately less red. [And] it has anti-aging benefits and shrinks pores.”
After leaving the rice-soaked cotton pads to do their work, she removed them after five minutes.
“Pat away any excess water,” she said, “[then] moisturize as usual.”
With a cheery smile to the camera, she bade farewell to her fans saying: “Peace.”
Commenters were intrigued with many trying out her rice water face mask.
“I just did this last night and this morning I really saw a difference on my skin. Less redness, the texture feels softer,” was the reaction of one fan.
The concluding remark, however, suggested another use for rice water: “Putting it on your hair makes it grow faster and thicker,” they said.
