The gooey syrup can also be applied to the lips, according to Scott, who pointed out that sugar is a common ingredient in lip scrubs and similar cosmetics.

It also helps rejuvenate the skin by cleaning all the dirt from the skin’s pores. With all the dead skin and dirt removed, skin is more radiant and has a healthier glow.”
And an expert at the American Academy of Dermatology agreed that sugar can be used for mechanical exfoliation when used in the form of a scrub. They said: “This type of exfoliation removes the top layer of skin cells. as well as impurities, dirt, and excess oils.”
When used as a liquid, there are other benefits. According to a spokesperson at the Derm Review, sugar is a natural humectant, meaning it draws moisture from the environment into the skin.
